PEACE FLOWER TEMP

The Peaceflower Philosophy

Since the dawn of time mankind has lived by the club, the spear, the sword, and now by the gun and the bomb. Yet throughout the world and among all people there have been those who held a different vision of life. They saw a world with no war, no slavery nor oppression; where there is enough for all and every member of the human family is considered to be of equal value. They understood that all human problems could be better solved with nonviolent rather than violent means. The men and women above have great lessons to teach us. Isn't it time we turned from the study of war and begin the study of peace?

The Peaceflower Artist's Statement

"I began the Peaceflower as a response to the Persian Gulf War, then to all wars. I soon ceased to see it as a protest against war, but instead, I saw it as a practical bridge to peace; I selected twelve people, six men and six women, of different races, culture, religions and languages, with different places in history. They all accomplished noble deeds for the benefit of their fellow humans, often in the face of indifference, and at times, brutal and oppressive violence. They are bound together by their vision in a world where violence is not neccessary, and where people can work in harmony with each other and with all life on earth."
